Get an introduction to qualitative research methods for classroom-based research in this two-part workshop. Participants are expected to attend both sessions.

In the first session, participants will explore:

  • qualitative orientations vs. more common research designs in STEM,
  • advantages of using observation as a qualitative method,
  • inductive vs. deductive reasoning approaches to inquiry and how observation method can add rigor when examining learning.

In the second session, participants will explore effective qualitative research interviews.
