Location: Online

Transitioning discussion based classes or sections online takes careful consideration and planning, but can be done successfully! In this session, we will answer questions about leading discussions using synchronous and asynchronous online tools and address some common challenges related to student engagement, inclusion, and accessibility. There will also be time to demonstrate a few technologies that can be used to support online discussions. Questions to discuss could include:

  • How do I adapt activities designed for a face-to-face discussion for an online discussion?
  • What types of participation norms can I offer or co-develop with my students to create an inclusive online discussion environment?
  • Should I offer synchronous or asynchronous discussion activities, or a mix of both?
  • How can I use the breakout groups function in web conferencing applications to encourage positive student-student interactions?

Registration is required. Once you register, you will have access to the Blackboard Ultra room where this online event will take place.
