Description

Are there concepts that you suspect could be taught in a more effective way? Are you wanting to avoid pitfalls and use best practices for a teaching approach you want to try in the future? There’s no need to reinvent the wheel: many other educators have faced the same challenges and have since found solutions. This workshop will cover where to search, what search terms to use, and what types of questions to ask to help you build evidenced-based lesson plans for your current or future classroom. We’ll consider both peer reviewed, scholarly literature and web resources that summarize best practices for busy instructors.

Please join prepared to share a learning challenge, question or teaching approach they are interested in. This might be the best practices for an activity you are considering, finding an assessment for a course unit you’re teaching, or understanding why a particular concept seems so challenging for students.

Using the educational research literature is part of the Teaching-As-Research process, and this workshop is highly recommended for those considering a Delta Internship.
