How CIRTL Impacted My Career: Hearing from Academic and Research Staff

Wednesday, March 9, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Note: Before you can register, you will need to create a (free) CIRTL account here.

Are you considering a non-faculty career in academia? Academic and research staff – the colleagues who staff centers for teaching and learning, who work in administration, and who support research programs – help sustain the teaching and research foundations of higher education. These careers can be valuable ways of supporting students, faculty, and other staff in academia. Join us to hear CIRTL alumni reflect on how they came into these positions: what made them pursue this career path; its benefits, stressors, and rewards; and how CIRTL shaped their interests, skills, and community. We’ll hear from staff at the University of Illinois Chicago, University of California, Los Angeles, and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

This workshop is part of the series, How CIRTL Impacted My Career: Alumni Reflections. The other events in this series include the following:

  • Wednesday, March 16: How CIRTL Impacted My Career: Hearing from Teaching Faculty
  • Wednesday, March 23: How CIRTL Impacted My Career: Experiences in Academia from Underrepresented Groups in STEM
  • Wednesday, March 30: How CIRTL Impacted My Career: Hearing about Positions beyond Academia

Registration is required. Once you register, you will have access to the online meeting room where this online event will take place.
