Collaborative for Advancing Learning and Teaching Information Session

Friday, April 6th

1360 Genetics-Biotechnology Center
Please join us for an informal drop-in session to learn how units within the Collaborative for Advancing Learning and Teaching can help you build your skills in teaching, communication, outreach, and mentoring. The Information Session will be an opportunity to meet with staff and current participants from the Delta Program, the CIRTL Network, WISCIENCE, and the Teaching Academy to find out more about opportunities designed for graduate students and postdocs. The session is intended to help you map your professional goals onto program offerings, which include the following:
- Courses and seminars on teaching at the college level, research mentoring, effective communication, and science outreach
- Practicum opportunities in teaching, mentoring, and service learning
- Workshops on a broad array of topics
- Programming designed specifically for teaching assistants
- A certificate in teaching and learning Light refreshments will be provided.

- Attend a panel of Madison College faculty and explore academic life and engaging teaching approaches on a community college campus, or
- Attend a panel of Madison College students and learn about the diversity and experiences at a community college, or
- Tour Madison College biotechnology teaching facilities
- Learn about teaching employment at a Madison College, including openings for fall
- Consider getting real-world experience teaching diverse learners by completing a Delta internship* at Madison College

Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) Network Events

CIRTL Network events offer the opportunity to engage with experts across the nation. The CIRTL network is composed of 43 research universities (including the Delta Program at UW-Madison) with the core mission of developing a national STEM faculty committed to implementing and advancing effective teaching practices for diverse student audiences. By participating in CIRTL online events you can connect with a learning community of diverse research universities mutually engaged in teaching-as-research activities.
